Carroll County Fills Superintendent Position

Brian Spencer, Chairman of the Carroll County School Board, announces that the superintendent vacancy
has been filled by Dr. Shirley A. Perry. Dr. Perry is currently the Director of Human Resources for Pulaski
County Public Schools. Dr. Perry served as Assistant Principal at Carroll County Middle School in 2008-2009
prior to returning to Pulaski County. Dr. Perry has over twenty-four years of service in public education.

The Carroll County School Board received twelve applications, which included three current/former
Superintendents, five central office administrators, two principals, and two educators. The Board conducted over
twenty hours of interviews with five candidates over the three week interview period and has unanimously selected Dr. Shirley Perry to lead the school division.

“We are very pleased that Dr. Shirley Perry has accepted this position.  Her vision towards education and her past experience as a Director of Human Resources will benefit the Carroll County Public School system as we continue to be one the best school divisions in Virginia", said Brian Spencer, Chairman of the Carroll County School Board.

Dr. Perry will start her new position effective July 1, 2017.

A reception to welcome Dr. Perry has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 2017, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the 2 nd floor conference room of the Carroll County Governmental Complex.
